I’m warm and real, but I’ll also call you out when I see you getting in your own way. I believe emotions carry important information, and the goal isn’t to get rid of them. It’s to learn how to sit with them and respond in a new way. My background includes community mental health, school settings, PHP, IOP, short-term residential, and long-term transitional care, which has shaped a direct and collaborative style that’s all about helping you do something differently.
Hi, I’m Brittney, a licensed psychotherapist with over seven years of experience in private practice. I specialize in treating anxiety using evidence-based approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy and exposure and response prevention. My style is warm, supportive, and collaborative, and I genuinely enjoy connecting with people and using humor when it helps clients feel at ease. At the same time, I take an action-oriented approach to therapy and focus on teaching practical skills you can use in your daily life. Together, we’ll work on breaking unhelpful patterns and building confidence in your ability to handle anxiety. My goal is to help you feel empowered, not just understood.
I'm curious and inquisitive. Be prepared to dig deep and be questioned until we get to the root of an issue. I find this method usually helps someone figure out what's really been going on!
My main treatment method is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy which is aimed at helping people live as full a life as possible regardless of the their circumstances. I also use other method based on the needs of the individual I'm working with. I've been a symphony musician, Navy and hospital chaplain, and began my psychology career at a state hospital. My psychology degree emphasized addiction. Due to my chaplaincy experience, I am naturally open to spiritual and religious pathways to recovery and healing, but only in accordamce with the wishes of the client.
I lived in a constant state of fear before healing through therapy. This work changed my life. If you're suffering from anxiety, nervousness, blushing, heart racing or you're in a never ending cycle of worry, I want to work with you and help you find more comfort in your mind and body. I also work with folks who are struggling with fertility. If you're feeling the weight and emotional roller coaster that comes with infertility, I can help your journey to becoming a parent feel much more manageable.
